What are you doing on May 14? Well, if you don’t have plans, why not take the whole family to the wedding of Piper the Chihuahua and Boo the Pomeranian mix? The two, pictured above, will be wed by a Justice of the Pooch, in “pet-rimony,” then they’ll celebrate here in, Greenwich Village’s Twenty Four Fifth, where guests will partake in a Yappy Hour and eat some of the bone-shaped wedding cake.
While we’ve written about dogs being part of weddings, this is a whole different ballgame. Piper will be wearing a wedding dress, which she picked out, according to Vera Skenderis, the alterations manager at Kleinfeld. In case you’re curious, the gown will be a mermaid-style one, with lots of organza and satin, and Piper will be wearing a veil and crystal-encrusted collar. Boo will go the traditional route and wear a tuxedo (minus the pants), with a fancy collar to jazz it all up.
And if you’re wondering if this is a case of dog-parents taking themselves a bit too seriously, don’t worry. This is actually a fundraising event which will raise money for North Shore Animal League and Waggytail Rescue. Tickets cost $125 to $250 and apparently even cats are invited to attend.
