Patch, a Jack Russell Terrier, went missing in Kilcock, Ireland, just west of Dublin. His owner, Deirdre Anglin, posted pictures of Patch on Facebook and tried to spread the word so he would be found. Yet Twitter ended up being the hero in this lost dog scenario after Patch walked onto a train en route to Dublin along with morning commuters.(dog walking services nyc)
Twitter verse
After this wandering pooch boarded the 6:49 a.m. commuter train and made lots of friends, the train staff realized Patch had no owner on board. According to Dogster, that’s when Irish Rail tweeted the following to it’s 18,000 followers:
““Lost dog! Boarded at Kilcock at 06.49 this morning, currently being looked after in Pearse Stn. Please ReTweet.”
The message was retweeted over 500 times in about 30 minutes and eventually made it’s way to Anglin. She tweeted back at the station, “That’s my dog! I’ll call the station now.” Of course Irish Rail kept their fans updated via Twitter and eventually provided them with Anglin and Patch’s reunion photo (below).
Now, it’s only fitting that Patch has his own twitter account, which he supposedly learned to use after his ordeal.
We’re so happy little Patch is home safe and sound and hope he doesn’t try to take any more trains in the future.
