Dogs Save Lost Boy’s Life by Keeping Him Warm

January 16, 2013

When a six-year-old boy named Ryle went missing in Seneca, MO, his mother, Holly Smith was panicked. At about 4:30pm on a Tuesday, he was nowhere to be found. He had been following his dog, Bella, and both left the family’s property. The temperature was in the low 20s and everyone in town was extremely worried about Ryle.
While there was an outpouring of support in the search for Ryle, the actual heroes in this story are Baxter the boxer and Bella the Lab. These two dogs saved Ryle’s life by lying on top of the boy as the temperature dropped. It turns out the six-year-old wasn’t even wearing shoes and his feet were beginning to experience frostbite.
When Ryle was found, about a mile from his home, he was exhausted and hungry, but alive. According to paramedics, his upper extremities were warm thanks to the dog’s body heat. Had it not been for Baxter and Bella, this outcome could have been much worse.(dog walking services nyc)
We’re so thankful these dogs were there! What smart pups to keep this boy safe and warm during this scary time.
