Koda, a pit bull mix was rescued from the Halifax Humane Society last year by a loving couple named Melanie Cannon and Eddie Hanna. The two had recently become engaged and were ready to tie the knot when they found out their pup, Koda, had seriously health issues.

Save Dog’s Life

According to Daily Mail, Koda had been the runt of the litter and had health defects as a result. Koda’s pet insurance provider would not pay for the care so the couple were faced with a decision: get married or save Koda.
They had already postponed their wedding once due to the death of Cannon’s grandmother so this was another unexpected turn of events for them. Their choice? To save their dog and used the wedding funds to do so.(dog walking services nyc)
Hanna said, “We just did what anybody would’ve done…He deserves to be alive and to be loved.”
After they paid for the treatment that cost more than they had saved, the Halifax Humane Society took notice. Miguel Abi-hassan the executive director said, “It really hit home with our entire staff…We felt we needed to be able to do something to turn that around.”
And do something they did! Abi-hassan and the rest of his staff encouraged local vendors to donate goods and services so the kind couple could marry as planned. Local business donated music, flowers, photography and other such nuptial necessities and the wedding is now on.
We’re so happy for Cannon and Hanna. They deserve it!
