Dogs Ate Gourmet At The Annual Doggie Tea Party Fundraiser

June 8, 2012

Little kids may play with their dogs and pretend they’re at a tea party, but some lucky pooches in Chicago got to attend the Palmer House Hilton’s annual Doggie Tea Party to eat great food and celebrate a good cause. It was co-hosted by the Anti-Cruelty Society and was meant to bring attention to the benefits of adopting shelter dogs.

This was the tea party’s fifth year where dogs and owners are invited to hang out in the Empire Room and mingle. Humans sipped champagne and dogs feasted on food prepared by Chef Joseph Giannini of Urban Out Sitters. He created poochie sushi with caviar, shrimp toast with slaw, chicken pot pie, a cheese plate and dessert bar, all for the pups to enjoy in various courses (dog walking new York). He kept out the extra salt and sugars that we humans love so much and made everything with natural, organic and locally sourced food. The event even had a guest of honor! Wilma, a chocolate Lab was the Dog of Distinction in a contest run by the City Clerk’s office that encouraged dog registration. Sounds like a fun event. We think there should be a tea party in New York City!
