Tim Burton, producer of quirky, dark films such as Nightmare Before Christmas and Mars Attacks!, amongst many others, is at it again. He’s producing a second rendition of his 1984 short film Frankenweenie, but this time in stop motion (like Nightmare Before Christmas). Frankenweenie, now in post-production, will be in black and white like the classic horror films of the early 20th century and will use the likes of Wynona Riser, Martin Short, Catherine O’Hara and Martin Landau as voice actors.
All that said, we are most excited to see the relatable story of a boy who loses his best friend – his dog, Sparky – and decides to resurrect him with science (dog walker service). Though obviously we don’t all go create a Frankenstein-like version of our passed pups, maybe we kind of wish we could?

The original Frankenweenie pup was played by an adorable Bull Terrier ridden with stitches and the new stop motion version is equally endearing with his pointy nose, wagging tail and, of course, the iconic bolts.
The movie is expected to come out toward the end of the year and we can’t wait to catch it in theaters.
