Driving to New Jersey? Buckle Fido Up!

June 6, 2012

Seatbelt safety is a recent issue in New Jersey as the state is emphasizing their “Click It or Ticket” rule for pups. So, if you’re driving to New Jersey anytime soon, and even if you’re not, it’s best that your pup not be loose in the car! Col. Frank Rizzo,  police superintendent for the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, told reporters that the $250-1,000 fine is applied to each offense and each animal not buckled up in the car.

This is not a new law – it’s actually 16-years-old – it’s just one that the state of New Jersey has begun cracking down on. Rizzo notes that these fines will raise awareness of the dangers that face unrestrained dogs in a car. Though some people find this law intrusive and according to Patch.com’s poll, many police officers may not enforce it, we think it’s great to consider dog safety in the back or front seat.(dog walking services nyc)
