Many dogs are known as sheep hearding canines that help farmers protect and corral their animals. No other sheep dog does what Jess, a 10 year old spring spaniel, has learned to do, however. She is redefining what it means to be a “Sheep Dog” by bottle-feeding orphaned lambs that can’t get milk from their mothers.

Jess helps take care of rare-breed sheep on her Exeter, England farm which is part of the Devon Wildlife Trust. According to Daily Mail, Jess’s owner, Louise Moorhouse said, “She’s been doing it ever since she was a puppy. I taught her to hold the milk bottle in her mouth and she did the rest. It’s very funny when she runs across the field gripping the bottle.”(dog walking services nyc)
Jess is hard at work but is preparing for her retirement by training Lily, another pup who will take over her job. Here are some more images of Jess at work taken by Richard Austin via the Daily Mail.
