Lion on the Loose is Actually a Dog with a Mane

January 9, 2013

When Police in Norfolk, Virginia got a call about a baby lion loose on the streets, they called the Virginia Zoo. However, Mramba and Zola, the Zoo’s two lions were in their cages.

Lion On Loose

This interested the Zoo Director, Greg Bockheim who decided to go find this baby lion on the streets. When he found the cat it was actually…a dog! Charles the Monarch, a Labradoodle, had been shaved to resemble the king of the jungle. Charles’ owner, Daniel Painter, gave him this cut so he would look like Old Dominion University’s mascot (dog walking nyc).
Painter who seemingly has a sense of humor about it all said, “I tell people he’s a Lab-a-lion, and half the people believe that.” He also takes Charles to the zoo and watches people run for their cars!
